  • Boston, MA City
  • Research Domain
  • Description

Our mission is to make biology easier to engineer. Ginkgo is constructing, editing, and redesigning the living world in order to answer the globe’s growing challenges in health, energy, food, materials, and more. Our bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing and building new organisms. Today, our foundry is developing dozens of different organisms to make different products across multiple industries.

Ginkgo is continuously crossing new frontiers of biological engineering and we have a record of delivering what was, until recently, thought impossible. Now, our expansion into mammalian cell engineering promises to push our boundaries even further, and so we’re looking for pioneering engineers to make Ginkgo’s new mammalian cell foundry a success.

As a Research Associate in the RNA Therapeutics team, you will conduct and analyze key in vitro and in vivo experiments aimed at engineering and improving various RNA-based products. The successful candidate will have experience working with and handling DNA and RNA, e.g. PCR, in vitro transcription, purification, and visualization. You will independently design, execute, and analyze key experiments in a variety of workflows with and without automation. Additionally, mammalian cell culture and next generation sequencing experience is preferred. Internal title will be Mammalian Engineer 2.

Total compensation for this role is market driven, with a starting salary of $70,000+, as well as company stock awards. Base pay is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental & vision coverage, health spending accounts, voluntary benefits, leave of absence policies, Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) program with employer contribution, 8 paid holidays in addition to a full-week winter shutdown and unlimited Paid Time Off policy.
